The Short Inca Trail 2 Days lasts two days and covers a distance of approximately 12 kilometers (7.5 miles). The walk begins at Kilometer 104, here we begin our Walk along the iconic Inca Trail. We will begin a panoramic journey through the Andean mountains, passing beautiful landscapes, cloud forests and ancient Inca ruins along the way.
One of the highlights of the Short Inca Trail is reaching the sun gate (Inti Punku), which offers a stunning panoramic view of Machu Picchu. This viewpoint offers a stunning first view of the famous archaeological site, surrounded by lush green mountains and nestled among the clouds.
The hike concludes with a visit to the impressive Machu Picchu. Exploring the ancient city, learning about its history and meaning, and marveling at the intricate stonework is a truly unforgettable experience.

Itinerary
Cusco - Ollantaytambo - km 104 - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes Pueblo
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 4:00 am and drive 2 hours to the Ollantaytambo train station. If you stay in Ollantaytambo or the Sacred Valley, pick up will be 2 hours later. We will take the first trains in Ollantaytambo for the Inca Trail – Chachabamba (Known as Km 104). Upon arrival, you will go through the checkpoint, where you must show your original passport. Then you will enjoy a delicious picnic breakfast prepared by our expert trekking chefs.
After breakfast, you will explore Chachabamba, a magnificent Inca structure where your tour guide will tell you about the history of the Inca Trails. After seeing the impressive Inca ruins, we will begin a 4-hour walk to the Wiñayhuayna (Forever Young) Inca Site, one of the most impressive Inca monuments on the Inca Trail. You will have plenty of time to explore the Agricultural terraces, Water fountains and Incan temples. Lunch will be served at a nearby camp of the same name where our chef will introduce you to the best Peruvian cuisine using fresh local products.
The second part of the day begins with a 1-hour walk to the Sun gate (Inti Punku), where you will get your first glimpse of the Lost City of the Incas. We will arrive at the sun gate between 3 and 4 p.m. when the crowds at Machu Picchu have reduced and you may visit this place with fewer people. Then, you will walk to Machu Picchu for 1 more hour with stunning views. We will arrive at Machu Picchu in the late afternoon and we will take advantage of the sunset and it will also allow us to see the empty citadel.
Finally, we will take the bus and travel for 30 minutes to Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes), where you will check into your hotel and enjoy dinner at a restaurant.

Aguas Calientes - Explore Machu Picchu - Return to Cusco
On the last and most important day, we will wake up early to prepare for the highlight of the tour: visiting Machu Picchu, the lost city of the Incas. The hotel will provide breakfast and we will board the buses at 6:00 a.m. We will arrive at Machu Picchu early in the morning. On a clear day, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the spectacular sunrise over Machu Picchu.
You will have a guided tour inside the citadel of Machu Picchu; Your guide will take you to explore the agricultural terraces, temples, and Inca palaces, and you’ll still have time to explore on your own or hike to Huayna Picchu Mountain or Machu Picchu Mountain (tickets must be reserved as far in advance as possible).
After the guided tour, you will enjoy lunch next to the citadel at the Belmond Machu Picchu hotel. Next, we will take the bus to Aguas Calientes and explore the town.
Later in the afternoon, you will board the Vistadome Panoramic Train back to Ollantaytambo, where we will pick you up and transfer you by private van back to Cusco. The expected arrival time is 7:00 p.m. return to your hotel.

What to Bring
The common misconception is that it is always hot in South America; However, due to the higher altitude of the Andes, the temperature can be quite cold, especially at night. We suggest bringing a duffel bag or backpack, whichever is most comfortable for you to carry, and also an appropriately sized backpack.
