Mollepata – Challacancha – Humantay Lake – Soraypampa

We’ll come to pick you up from your hotel bright and early between 4:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. for an exciting adventure that awaits us. Our journey begins with a scenic two-hour drive to Mollepata where we’ll have a hearty breakfast to fuel ourselves for the day ahead.

Our next destination is Challacancha, which is the starting point of our exhilarating trek. While you get ready to hike, our skilled cook and horseman will prepare all the necessary camping equipment and cooking gear. We’ll start with a challenging uphill hike for the first three hours, but the effort will be worth it once we reach Soraypampa, where we’ll take a break and enjoy a delicious lunch.

As we take a breather, we’ll be greeted with breathtaking views of the majestic Humantay (4120m/13500ft) and Salkantay (6271m/20575ft) mountains, creating a perfect backdrop for our lunch. After the meal, we’ll continue our journey and hike up to the stunning Humantay Lake, which will leave us spellbound with its beauty.

Once we’ve taken in the picturesque surroundings, we’ll make our way back to Soraypampa, which will be our camping location for the night.

At an altitude of 3800 m/11750ft, Soraypampa is the highest and coldest camping spot on our trip. However, its proximity to the second-highest Salkantay snow-capped mountain in Cusco makes it a unique and thrilling experience.

We can’t wait for you to join us on this journey of a lifetime!

We’ll set out on our hike at around 6:00 am, and for the first four hours, we’ll hike uphill. This part of the trek is undoubtedly tough, but it’s worth it for the incredible views we’ll experience at the summit, which is the highest point of the trek at 4650m/15200ft. As we reach this point, we’ll be surrounded by two massive mountains, Tucarhuay and Salkantay, offering stunning panoramic views. There’s a chance we may even encounter snow at this altitude!
