Itinerary
Qenqo - Temple of Monkey – Temple of the Moon – Inkilltambo (Temple of the Mother Earth) - Inkilltambo Sky Lodge Dome
Around 8:30 am, we will arrange for your hotel pick-up using a private vehicle. Our destination is the starting point of the hike towards Qenqo, which is also known as the Temple of Pachamama. This site, famous for measuring solstices and equinoxes, will be reached after a light hike to the temple of the moon. Inside the cave, a small hole in the roof allows the moon to illuminate the main altar. Our next stop will be the Temple of the Monkeys (Kusilluchayoq), where we will encounter remarkable rock sculptures of pumas, snakes, and monkeys.
After exploring this intriguing site, we will select our llamas or alpacas to accompany us on a walk along the sacred road to Antisuyo. Antisuyo is the original Inca Trail that led to the jungle. The walk to reach the Inkillatambo archaeological complex, situated in Qapaq ñan (known as the Great Sacred Inca Trail in Quechua), will take approximately one hour and twenty minutes. Along the way, we will pass through a small eucalyptus forest that eventually leads us to the archaeological complex, surrounded by Inca terraces. Apart from its agricultural and religious significance, this site also held astronomical importance.
Following the hike, we will proceed to our Sky Lodge Glamping site, where a delicious lunch awaits us. The afternoon will be free for relaxation, and in the evening, we will gather around a group bonfire, creating a memorable experience.
Inkilltambo Sky Lodge Dome – Sacred Valley – Pisaq – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Caliente
After enjoying a delightful breakfast at our Sky Lodge Dome, we will begin our journey in the early morning around 8:00 am. Our first stop will be the sacred valley, where we will visit the renowned archaeological site of Pisaq. This site holds great historical significance as the first archaeological site of the sacred valley. Once we have explored this fascinating place, we will continue our journey to Urubamba, where we will enjoy a delicious lunch.
Next, we will proceed to Ollantaytambo, known as the Inca living town. This captivating destination offers a glimpse into the rich Inca heritage. After immersing ourselves in the beauty of Ollantaytambo, we will board the train that will take us to Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival at Machu Picchu, we will check into our hotel, where we will spend the night. This comfortable accommodation will ensure a restful overnight stay, preparing us for the adventures that await us at Machu Picchu.
Aguas Calientes – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo - Cusco
Our day begins with an early start, as we wake up at 4:00 am and enjoy breakfast at 4:30 am. The highlight of the day is our hike to Machu Picchu, which typically takes around 1.5 hours. However, if you prefer a more relaxed approach, you have the option to take the first bus at 5:30 am, which will take you to Machu Picchu in just 25 minutes. This early arrival allows you to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the ancient city.
Once we arrive at Machu Picchu, our knowledgeable guide will lead a 2-hour walking tour, providing fascinating insights into the history and significance of the ruins. After the guided tour, you will have the freedom to explore the city at your own pace, taking in the awe-inspiring surroundings.
For those seeking an adventurous challenge, there is an opportunity to climb Huayna Picchu, reaching an altitude of 2,720 meters (8,890 feet), in just 45 minutes. This ascent offers panoramic views and a unique perspective of Machu Picchu.
After our visit to Machu Picchu, we will descend to Aguas Calientes, where we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, we will take a bus back to Cusco, concluding our remarkable journey.
